A corporate presentation titled “Career Prospects in the Insurance Sector”

On July 19, 2016, a corporate presentation titled “Career Prospects in the Insurance Sector” was organized by the Department of Finance, American International University - Bangladesh to give the students an opportunity to link between academic and corporate world. The talk show was arranged by Dr. Mohammed Kamrul Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Finance, Faculty of Business Administration. The main objective of the session was to share with MBA Finance majoring students that Insurance sector could be a viable option to build their future career in the corporate world of Bangladesh. The key Speaker was Mr. Khawja Manzer Nadeem, Managing Director, Paramount Insurance Co. BD. Ltd.. Mr. Nadeem shared his 30 years of career experience in this sector and invited the attending students to give it a try since there is a serious shortage of educated work force in this sector and the future looks bright in this sector. He also mentioned that even in India Insurance sector contributes more than 4% to their GDP whereas it is only 0.41% for Bangladesh. A lot of exciting challenge is waiting for those deserving candidates and once a student gain some experience and understand the market their career progression is quite rapid and salary is more competitive than banking sector. He also shared the practical experiences towards the students about the importance of professional degrees in the field of Insurance like six months diploma course in Insurance offered in Bangladesh or British accredited certified Insurance course.

The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Associate Professor & Director, MBA program. He presented the letter of appreciation to Mr, Nadeem which was signed by Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Accounting & Finance and  Prof. Dr. Charles Carillo Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, FBA.
