On 5th of August 2017, BBA and MBA Accounting major students of AIUB participated in the ICAB Student Summit – 2017. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), for the first time arranged the summit at Sena Malancha, Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka aiming to motivate prospective students about Chartered Accountancy (CA) profession and to show how CA profession can be a great career path to be a successful business leader. With the theme ‘Chartered Accountancy: Pathway to Business Leadership’, the summit was a gathering of students mainly participated from prominent public and private universities in Bangladesh. Apart from this, ICAB successful members who are heading corporate functions and businesses holding the positions of Chairman/Managing Director/CEO also participated in the programme. Additionally, Vice Chancellors, Deans & Chairman of Business Departments of different universities, ICAB Council Members and Past President were present in the programme.
ICAB president Adeeb Hossain Khan FCA opened the summit with a welcome remarks. ICAB Vice President (Education and Training), Mostafa Kamal FCA delivered a presentation on CA education and ICAB Student Summit Organizing Committee Chairman and Council Member Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA made the concluding remarks. Among the successful Chartered Accountants, Ahmed Raihan Shamsi FCA, Chief Executive Officer, Accenture CIS Limited & Managing Director, Communications, Media & Technology, ASEAN, Akhter Matin Chaudhury FCA, Chairman & Managing Director, NUVISTA Pharma Ltd., Parveen Mahmud FCA, Past President -ICAB & Managing Director, Grameen Telecom Trust, Md. Samsul Alam Mallick FCA, Managing Director, New Zealand Milk (BD) Ltd., Noor-E-Khoda Abdul Mobin FCA, Managing Director and CEO, Emerging Credit Rating Ltd., and KhondkarAtique-e-Rabbani FCA, Managing Director, The Computers Limited gave motivational speeches for the students and inspire them for studying Chartered Accountancy.
Representatives from reputed CA firms provided information related to exemption policy, scholarships, Articleship, CA entry criteria, etc. to the students of AIUB. The students of AIUB got the opportunity to hear from a number of reputed business leaders of Bangladesh about the knowledge, skills and commitment to maintain the highest professional standards and integrity. All the students have been awarded with exclusive gift hampers. Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Accounting coordinated the AIUB participation with the cordial assistance of Mr. Roomee Tareque Moudud, FCMA, Director, Office of Placement and Alumni (OPA), AIUB.
