Description of the Majors

  1. Major in Journalism

This major prepares students to enter the booming media and communication industry. Students intending to be the journalists, communication experts or development specialists are spurred to take this major. The courses are designed to enable students to read critically the current and international issues that are brought into the focus in newspapers, news magazines, television and radio channels and online media organizations. The major puts particular emphasis on the practical aspect of reporting and editing for both print and electronic media, creating and publishing online news content, producing multimedia news packages, operating newsrooms, using the internet and social media as a platform of news dissemination.

  1. Major in Television Production and Animation

Taking into account the booming television industry and nascent animation sector of the country, the department has introduced this major. The aim is to produce highly technologically literate graduates who would find employment in electronic media both as journalists and producers and take leadership of the promising field of animation. Attractive courses have been designed with emphasis on practical activities.

Students enrolled in this major will not only learn theories, but also will have hands-on training to produce animation films. The intricacies of animation will be taught by instructors from abroad. With the increasing use of visual effects in different audio-visual productions, the promise of animation has already been evident. So this major is very relevant in recent times. In addition, there is a huge lack of professional animators in the country. The department aims to fill the gap by supplying skilled graduates. As the world becomes more and more digitized, professional animators will be highly sought after in the near future, both at home and abroad.
