Engineering Student's Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) AIUB Unit Face organised a seminar titled "Seminar on Active Multimode Interferometer Laser Diode (Active MMI-LD) for Future High Speed Communication System" which was presented by Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) at Room-266, Faculty of Engineering Building (Building-2), AIUB from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm on 15th October 2015.
The seminar started with the national anthem followed by a brief promo video, focussing on ESAB's mission, vision and activities. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman (Associate Professor & Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) in which he stated that, class of wireless technology we use for communication in today’s world still has not surpassed the wired technology in many sections. He ended his speech by thanking ESAB and the seminar’s key speaker Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin for their effort in sharing knowledge amongst the participants. Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, key speaker of this seminar started the session with a brief discussion on history of communication system and access network evolution. He also explained some of the techniques that could be used in increasing the speed of communication. After that he explained the structure of Active MMI LD along with one promising approach to enhance the modulation bandwidth by increasing the photon density of the system using photon-photon resonance. At the end of the seminar session, Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan (Associate Professor & Head, Undergraduate Program, Department of EEE, AIUB) delivered a speech emphasizing research based study and work in today’s world. He also emphasized that to serve the nation with state-of-the-art technology, engineering students should be converging their goal towards research based study and work. He encouraged ESAB’s effort to this context and also thanked Dr. Nasir for sharing his research work outcomes with the audience.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan handed over a certificate of appreciation to the speaker as a mark of respect to his effort.
