IEEE AIUB student branch hosted the seminar on “FREEDM Concept: Power Distribution System Modernization with Solid State Electronics and Integrated with Solid State Electronics and Integrated Renewables” at room# 266, Faculty of Engineering building, AIUB. FREEDM concept provides an architecture for a future electric power distribution system that is suitable for plug-and-play of distributed renewable energy and distributed energy storage devices. The event started off with an inspirational speech from Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.
Then Dr. Iqbal Husain, Director, FREEDM Engineering Research Center & Professor, North Carolina State University; took the stage and guided the audience through his research program. He successfully broke down and simplified large and complex ideas and technical terms to explain the concept to both experienced and new members of the field, present. After delivering his speech Dr. Iqbal Husain, Director, FREEDM & Professor, North Carolina State University; answered questions from the audience to further clarify the concept.
Afterwards Prof Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section; went on stage to deliver the closing speech. He spoke highly of IEEE AIUB student branch and AIUB, for their hard work in organizing an event of such caliber. Later Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; presented the speaker and guests with a token of appreciation on behalf of IEEE AIUB Student Branch.
