The Department of Pharmacy, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized an interactive seminar titled "Scope of Clinical Pharmacy Practice Abroad" on Monday, March 3, 2025. Ms. Fuhhatun-Noor, faculty member of the Dept. of Pharmacy and a notable number of students from the Department of Pharmacy were present at the session.
The program commenced with a welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Md. Abdullah-Al-Jubair, Director, Faculty of Science and Technology. The keynote speaker for the event, Mr. Michael Chowdhury, a Clinical Pharmacist and Adjunct Academician of University of Toronto, Canada and University of Waterloo, Canada shared valuable insights into the discipline.
During the session, the speaker emphasized the role of Pharmacists in the healthcare system and explained why pharmacy is considered a noble profession. In addition, he discussed the career prospects for pharmacists overseas and clarified the differences between the pharmacy profession in Bangladesh and abroad. Moreover, he provided an overview of the responsibilities of clinical pharmacists in international settings. The speaker further outlined the step-by-step process that the students must follow to succeed in the Pharmacist Evaluating Examination in Canada to become registered Pharmacists.
There was a question-and-answer segment at the end of the session, during which students asked questions related to topics such as preparation for the registration examination, as well as the fundamentals and benefits of pharmacy education. The keynote speaker responded to these inquiries based on his extensive experience, offering practical and valuable advice to the audience.
At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Dip Nandi, Associate Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, AIUB, expressed gratitude to the honorable speaker for his time and insights, stating that the students will greatly benefit from the advice given.
