SGS Completed Stage-2 Audit For ISO 9001:2008 Certification For AIUB

After surpassing the requirements for the first two stages of the certification process for a period of one year, the Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) Bangladesh Limited a certifying body of systems and services affiliated with the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) conducted Stage-2 audit of AIUB’s quality management operation system. SGS is based in Switzerland with about 150 offices all over the world. It was an intensive process carried out by three competent and experienced auditors namely: Ms. Yeasmin Akther (Technical Expert); Mr. Shabab Ahmed Mahfuz(Lead Auditor) and Ms. Farjana Ahmed (Auditor). The foci of the audit were both on physical structure, operation system, records management, safety measures and management function of the university. The Quality Manual covering 8 clauses prepared by AQAC Team in collaboration with the Department heads guided the SGS auditors to find out if the discussion presented are obtaining in the operation of various campuses, departments and offices of the university. The Quality Manual is backed up with exhibits to illustrate the operation of the university. It was a way of validating what was reported and what exactly is in existence in the operation system of the university. The two-day activities commenced with an opening meeting with key and senior officers of the university spearheaded by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, the Vice President for Academics, Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, the Dean of FE, Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain and Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean of FASS, Asso. Dean of FBA, AQAC Team, Campus Heads, and other department heads. The SGS Team is headed by Ms. Yeasmin Akhter along with two other auditors. The Honorable Vice Chancellor welcome the SGS Team and the AUIB participants and wish everybody a success in this endeavor. A short briefing was conducted by Mr. Shahbab on the First Stage results except for minor suggestions, the whole report submitted by AIUB was indeed acceptable with high satisfaction. The activities for the two day audit were spelled out with emphasis on ocular visit, interview, checking actual practices, flow and control of reports, records and documents. The audit activities ended with a closing meeting highlighting the good practices of the university operation and minor suggestions for improvement. The good news was that the SGS Team has declared the success of the Stage-2 Audit and Congratulated AIUB for having Passed the ISO 9001-2008 Certification with a SCOPE: “Quality Management Operation System for the University”. In an appropriate time and place, the awarding of the Certificate will be held and the process will continue to sustain quality and excellence both in the academic and management operation system of AIUB.
