On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, The Department of English, AIUB organized an interactive and insightful workshop on “Towards AI Across the Disciplines”. The session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Q. Azhar, a distinguished Professor of Computer Information Systems at the City University of New York.
The workshop was held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM and was designed for the faculty members and students of FASS. The workshop commenced with an introductory discussion on AI to discover its role across disciplines. The session delved into multiple experiments that explored AI tools through hands on activities and had an intensive discussion focusing on the ethical and practical aspects of using AI in arts and social science disciplines. The session also included a short guide on how to use AI tools for both the students and educators.
One highlight of the workshop was the activity and discussion session. Each participant gave a prompt to ChatGPT following the instruction provided by the facilitator and at the end of the activity the participants shared their constructive opinions on the result they received. This hands-on approach allowed the faculty members and students to identify the limitations of using AI tools and allowed them to think about the potentiality of AI across disciplines.
