Institutional Review Board (IRB)

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB)

AIUB has an institutional review board comprising a formally designated committee to review, monitor, approve and ensure ethical compliance of all types of research in different fields associated with human and animal subjects for biomedical and behavioral research conducted by the researchers.

The Functions of IRB:

  • To ensure high ethical standard research using scientifically appropriate research proposals and research works. For this, IRB has already developed its guidelines for the development of scientifically appropriate research endeavor(s).
  • To abide by the internationally accepted guidelines on research. It may also develop its own guidelines as per the local and international needs.
  • To oversee the advancement of the research and conduct regular audits to confirm completion of the project(s).
  • To ensure whether special care is taken while employing any drugs or/and procedures as intervention for ensuring safety of the research participants/ respondents.
  • To safeguard the rights, dignity, safety, as well as the benefits of the research participants/ respondents associated with the projects.

  9. One Professor from the Social Science Department  (Member)

  10. Director, Office of Research  (Member Secretary)

* The IRB may invite one or more subject expert(s) for any specific meeting if needed.
